The sports world has jumped on the Manti Te'o "fake dead girlfriend" story like Oliver Stone on the JFK "conspiracy."

People, people people! You watch too many movies!

Manti Te'o is a rube. He's a naive, devout Morman who was duped into believing that some hot girl at Stanford dug him for who he was.

To successfully carry out a conspiracy, EVERYBODY has to be on the same page.

Take the moon landing for example. It really happened. How do I know? There were too damned many people involved to keep the secret.

The same with Area 51. Does it exist? Yes! Are there UFOs there? Yes! Are they alien spacecraft? Hell no!

Again, too many people to huddle up and get their stories straight.

Unfortunately for Te'o, this is how people will remember him. Every potential suitor in the NFL will ask him about this first in their interviews.

And, unless this happens to a LOT of college athletes, the NFL prospects at the Combine will talk about this and make fun of the dude behind his back.

Now as for the kid in Palmdale that apparently orchestrated the ruse....that's another story.
