I presume there isn't anybody in the Fox Family that doesn't know I'm a Seattle Sehawks fan. I've been a fan of the 'hawks since the franchise was founded in 1976. AND I had the pleasure of rooting for them in person for five years back in the 80's when I was doing my radio show in Seattle. Hell, I even got all teary when they made the Super Bowl. Even I was surprised that my love for this team runs that deep.
Which brings me to this Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner "scandal". Sherman and Browner (according to the NFL) have tested positive for using performance enhancing drugs - in this case Adderall. Adderall isw used in the treatment of ADD. It helps people with ADD focus. It is amphetemine based.
Richard and Brandon deny the charges.
If the NFL doles out the usual punishment for this kind of thing, Sherman and Browner could face a 4 game suspension.
4 games at the most crucial time of the season. Seahawks are 6-5 and facing the Bears in Chicago next Sunday.
It hits a little closer to home for me, because thanks to the wonders of social media, I'm friends with Richard Sherman, his brother Branton, and most importantly, Richard's mom Beverly.
Richard, Branton, and Beverly don't have "fan" pages, they have regular old FB and Instagram profiles. Russell Wilson, the Seahawks QB too. And it's obvious that when you interact with them on these pages, you're interacting with them, not some paid assistant. They've extended invitations to meet up if I ever make it back up there for a game.
Heck, I was supposed to meet Branton in the Century Link Field parking lot before a game to buy one of his "U mad bro?" t-shirts he whipped up after the Pats game. I have his cell number.
This is not to brag. This is to say that I like these people. They take the time to interact with this whacko Seahawks fan in Bakersfield. They joke with me, send me random messages. They make me feel part of their extended family, and make me feel more a part of my team, THE Seattle Seahawks than I actually did when I lived in Seattle.
I think that this incident will be resolved for the good.
As for Adderall, the drug that supposed to help people focus? The Seahawks could've used a truckload of it on Sunday against Miami.
Know what I'm sayin?
