Everyday, somebody posts a 50-60 year old "back in the good old days" picture on Facebook bemoaning how "things aint like they was when we was kids!" Or, "It's a shame our kids won't be able to experience this!"

You're right. Things aint they was when we was kids. And, no it's not a shame.

For example: Drive in movies. Lately there has been a plethora bunch of photos posted on Facebook of drive in movie theaters and how great they used to be.

Seriously? Were you living in the same Bakersfield I grew up in?

When I was a kid, there were five drive in theaters in town and they had three things in common: Hot in the Summer, Cold in the Winter, dusty as hell.

There was maybe a 15 day window in Spring and Fall when going to the drive in was comfortable. But that was it.

You want to replicate the drive in experience for your kids? Pull your car into your back yard, drag out your 80 inch LCD TV, set it up about 25 yards away, hook up a little tinny speaker, eat some crappy nachos from the stop & rob, and watch some direct to DVD movie. Don't forget the DEET, which, by the way, we DIDN'T have back then.
