Recently Vh1 Classic ran a multi part documentary series about the history of Heavy Metal.
It basically traced Metal's roots back to the symphonic mayhem of Classical Music Legends Beethoven and Wagner.
The parallels of the two seemingly disparate styles of music are surprisingly very similar.
So much so that a few years ago Metallica performed their own songs live with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.
So now former Metallica guitarist and current Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has been named as a featured soloist for an upcoming concert with the San Diego Symphony.
Dave is set to be part of a program in April 2014 that will feature music from Wagner, Vivaldi and Dvorak.
Executive director Edward "Ward" Gill said it's all about reaching new audiences, while music director Jahja Ling said he had a good meeting with Dave and that he may conduct the concert himself.
No word yet if the encore for the concert will be Megadeth's own song...ya know...Symphony of Destruction.
