Can you believe it was 50 years ago today that The Stones started out?
Yes it's true...today is the 50th anniversary of the first concert by Mick, Keith and Brian Jones.
Billed as The Rollin' Stones they were backed at London's Marquee club by pianist Ian Stewart, bassist Dick Taylor, who went on to form The Pretty Things, and Tony Chapman on drums.
Though there are still no plans for a tour this year, anniversary celebrations include an official book Rolling Stones 50 book, a photo exhibit at London’s Somerset House and a new documentary film which will be released in November.
There's also a possibility that they could be a suprise guest at the closing ceremonies of the London Summer Olympics and possibly a new album next year.
Yes...it's only Rock N Roll but we like it.
