I'm not sure why its taken me 12 years of living in California before taking my first overnighter in San Francisco. Could be because as kids, my mom used to feed us Rice-A-Roni once a week (hate that stuff). But since my wife and I were child-less for the week, we took advantage and spontaneously went to the city by the Bay this weekend. Did all the touristy things...rode the cable cars, did the Duck boat tour through the neighborhoods and out onto McCovey Cove (while Dodgers and Giants were playing at AT&T Park), ate at Fisherman's Wharf, sang at the piano bar at Lefty O'Doul's at Union Square, went to SEE the Dodgers play the Giants. Yes, we were there when the plane went down, though most people didn't know about it. There was a moment of silence before the baseball game. San Fran is a great town...where you can get a sunburn one hour, and be freezing to death an hour later. Great time! Great food! Great memories. Won't be another 12 years before I go back. I will wait until its 104 here though (what do you mean it'll be that today, tomorrow and the next day...)
The view from McCovey Cove during a game. WOW!
Crab dinner...crab chowder...at the Crab House on Pier 39. Yeah. I like crab.
Did I say I love crab? These are the crab sandwiches from AT&T Park, behind the scoreboard in center field. FANTASTIC!
